Dr. Duan’s team brings a fresh and lively attitude to the office because each person is very involved and active outside of the workplace. Each week we are refreshed and happy to be at work. We are proud to form what we agree to be a very pleasant working environment. It is our belief and hope that our enjoyment of our jobs will add to the patient experience of Dr. Duan’s practice.
Meet Our Front Office Staff

Patty
Patty first began her career in the dental field in orthodontics followed by an interim working with Mark Cooper’s dental consulting team. She returned to orthodontics where she has served as treatment coordinator in this practice for over 12 years. In this position Patty has gained an intimate knowledge of the practice of orthodontics as she follows each patient’s treatment beginning to end. The detail and care she puts into her time with our patients is supported and further developed by her activities out of the office.
Patty is an avid knitter for charity fundraisers, friends and family, and sometimes herself! She spends many hours walking her dog, rain or shine. Patty is a wonderful grandmother and aunt. We are happy to have Patty on our team; she is the primary promoter of the cheery atmosphere in our office, always ready with a smile and a happy remark. We don’t know how she maintains this positive attitude, but we appreciate it very much.

Patti
Patti is our financial coordinator and source of peaceful serenity in the office. Patti’s background as a teacher gives her a great deal of patience in her job making her a perfect fit for our friendly front desk. Her extra time is spent with her large family and church involvement. For personal rejuvenation she does art and takes care of her vegetable garden. Her primary art focus is knitting and painting; however, she is also a professional seamstress and instructs sewing workshops on the weekend. Patti possesses an ever-present positive and caring nature when working with our patients and the office staff. As an interesting aside, her niece, Michelle, previously worked as a clinical assistant in this practice for many years.
Meet Our Clinical Assistants

Jessica
Jessica has a long history with this practice first as a patient and now as an assistant. The only sister to five brothers, Jessica developed an adventurous spirit growing up that she still has today. She enjoys skydiving, snowboarding, and fishing in her free time. When she's feeling mellow, Jessica is an avid painter and enjoys homey West Seattle living. Her artisan skills lend her natural talent for the attention to detail required in orthodontics. Jessica’s relaxed and positive personality makes her a quintessential team member transmitting ease and comfort to both patients and coworkers. In the chair you can count on Jessica to make you laugh.

Rylin
Rylin came to this practice as a professional sailing instructor abroad and in the Pacific Northwest waters. She is a U.S. coast guard captain and likes to be called Captain Ry. With her free time she regularly volunteers teaching people with disabilities to ski, through Outdoors for All, as well as teaching sailing for the Center for Wooden Boats. In addition she enjoys traveling, outdoor sports (primarily skiing), sailing, biking, foreign languages (especially Spanish), and cooking. She is a natural fit in the clinical setting as a result of her outdoor education instructor background teaching both children and adults. Lifelong interests in crafts and working with her hands make her a good fit for orthodontic handiwork. Her smile is a contagious aspect of this office.

Teri
Teri is our veteran clinical assistant beginning her career 18 years ago working in this very practice. These days she works part time with this office spending most of her time with her three children. She is a very active mother, regularly volunteering in the schools, and enjoying outdoor activities with her kids. She also enjoys kayaking from her Poulsbo home and reading. Eighteen years has given Teri a wealth of understanding and expertise in many aspects of orthodontics. Have a question? Ask Teri. Teri possesses a wonderfully relaxed and jolly nature, which we look forward to each day.
